Our little story begins from the Middle Ages and with two powerful and very profitable products... Opium & Oil.
In 1803 Friedrich Sertuerner discovers an active ingredient in opium which if you dissolved in acid and then neutralizing it with ammonia result of this is... Morphine.
In 1803 Friedrich Sertuerner discovers an active ingredient in opium which if you dissolved in acid and then neutralizing it with ammonia result of this is... Morphine.
Morphine was not only the first alkaloid to be extracted from opium, but the first ever alkaloid to be isolated from plant.
In 1827 E. Merck & Company of Darmstadt, begins the commercial manufacturing of morphine for healing purposes. It would become a dominant manufacturer of morphine, codeine and cocaine.
When we think of Bayer we think of aspirin, definitly not heroin.... but in 1895 Bayer Company of Elberfeld, finds that diluting morphine with acetyls produces a drug without the common morphine side effects and the name for this new compound... Heroin
And where you find acetyls to produce heroin? Where did the acetyls come from? Well, just like today they come from petrochemicals, and sudenly all this led us to a name.... "John D. Rockefeller" the oil baron...
-The Discovery of the Synthetic Medicine
Around 1900, scientists discovered the “petrochemicals” and the ability to create all kinds of chemicals from oil. Scientists were discovering various vitamins and guessed that many pharmaceutical drugs could be made from oil but the best thing about petrochemicals was that everything could be patented.
This was a wonderful opportunity for Rockefeller who saw the ability to monopolize the oil, chemical and the medical industries at the same time! Rockefeller came up with an idea to use coal tar, a petroleum derivative, to make substances that affect the body and nervous system!
Scientists received huge grants to study how plants cured diseases, but their goal was to first identify which chemicals in the plant were effective, and then recreate a similar chemical – but not identical – in the lab that could be patented...
-The Problem...
Western medicine in the 18th and 19th centuries was called Heroic Medicine and included methods such as blood-letting, purging, leeching, blistering, mercury and lead therapy. But because heroic medicine treatment was so often unpleasant and expensive, more of the populace chose the milder treatments of the herbalists.
And that was one problem with Rockefeller’s plan for the medical industry: natural/herbal medicines were very popular in America at that time. Almost half the doctors and medical colleges in the U.S. were practicing holistic medicine, using knowledge from Europe and Native Americans.
Rockefeller had to figure out a way to get rid of his biggest competitor... The plant medicines.
-The Solution
He respond to his friend Andrew Carnegie (another plutocrat who made his money from monopolizing the steel industry) who devised a scheme.
Rockefeller and Carnegie hired Abraham Flexner, an American educator, to write a report, published and given to Congress in 1910, that report concluded there were too many doctors and medical schools in the US and that all natural healing modalities which had existed for hundreds of years were unscientific quackery.
Flexner’s report called on American medical schools to enact higher admission and graduation standards, and to adhere strictly to the protocols of mainstream science in their teaching and research. The report talked about the need for revamping and centralizing medical institutions. Many American medical schools fell short of the standard advocated in the Flexner Report and, subsequent to its publication, nearly half of such schools merged or were closed outright.
Based on this report, more than half of all medical colleges were soon closed. Homeopathy, all natural medicines and espesialy Cannabis were demonized.
"In the 1930’s John D. Rockefeller, Jr. campaigned for the prohibition of hemp and cannabis through generous political and Baptist church donations. Hemp could produce ethanol, which competed with petroleum, and cannabis was a competitor with opium and with the Rockefeller-owned member of an opium cartel: Bayer..."
Rockefeller to help with the transition and change the minds of all doctors and scientists gave more than $100 million to colleges, hospitals and founded a philanthropic front group called “General Education Board” (GEB).
In a very short time, medical colleges were all streamlined and homogenized.
All the students were learning the same thing, and medicine was all about using patented drugs.
With the AMA and allopathic medical schools firmly in place, the abolition of other medicinal therapies, and the enforcement of regulated licensing of doctors, the Rockefeller empire continued to expand.
"A pill for an ill became the mantra for modern medicine."
-Nowdays...
The Flexner Report of 1910 transformed the nature and process of medical education in America with a resulting elimination of proprietary schools and the establishment of the biomedical model as the gold standard of medical training.
This transformation occurred in the aftermath of the report, which embraced scientific knowledge and its advancement as the defining ethos of a modern physician. Such an orientation had its origins in the enchantment with German medical education that was spurred by the exposure of American educators and physicians at the turn of the century to the university medical schools of Europe
So, 100 years later, we can figgure out why most doctors dont speak about the benefits of nutrition or herbs or any holistic practices. We have an entire society that is enslaved to corporations for its well-being.
There is no question that there are synthetic medicines which are life-saving for both humans and animals. There are important drug therapies that are important in human and animal medicine. Advances in the treatment of various diseases have been enormous.
But the dark side of allopathic medicine remains: the constant bombardment of practitioners and consumers with drugs and vaccines, some of which function mainly to increase the pharmaceutical cartel’s profits.
