"Historic vote at the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs"

The United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) on Wednesday,Dec. 2. accepted a World Health Organization (WHO) recommendation to remove cannabis and cannabis resin from Schedule IV of the 1961 Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs.

The  approval of Recommendation 5.1 had a slim majority in favor with 27 votes for, one abstention and 25 votes against.

The CND – the main drug policymaking body within the United Nations – turned down all five remaining recommendations.

The passage of Recommendation 5.1 carries broad symbolic significance for medical cannabis, as it could help boost medical cannabis legalization efforts around the globe now that the CND tacitly acknowledges the medical utility of the drug.

“The medical cannabis wave has accelerated in recent years already, but this will give it another boost,” Martin Jelsma, drugs and democracy program director at the Netherlands-based Transnational Institute, told Marijuana Business Daily.

“And for those countries that basically mirror the U.N. scheduling in their domestic legislation, it may lead to national descheduling and remove obstacles to use cannabis for medical and research purposes.”

"Cannabis and Fibromyalgia"

Fibromyalgia is a disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain accompanied by fatigue, sleep, memory and mood issues.

Researchers believe that fibromyalgia amplifies painful sensations by affecting the way our brain process the painful and nonpainful signals.

They believe that the repeated nerve stimulation causes the brain and spinal cord of people with fibromyalgia to change. This change involves an abnormal increase in levels of certain chemicals in the brain that signal pain.

In addition, the brain's pain receptors seem to develop a sort of memory of the pain and become sensitized, meaning they can overreact to painful and nonpainful signals.

Fibromyalgia often co-exists with other conditions, such as:
-Irritable bowel syndrome
-Chronic fatigue syndrome
-Migraine and other types of headaches
-Interstitial cystitis or painful bladder syndrome
-Temporomandibular joint disorders
-Anxiety
-Depression
-Postural tachycardia syndrome

Many people with fibromyalgia are turning to the Medical Cannabis or in a CBD oil to treat chronic pain, anxiety and sleep deprivation or insomnia. Cannabis has properties that are known to help certain symptoms of fibromyalgia but lets see what the studies have to say about it...

"CBD & Liver Disorders"

CBD & Liver Disorders" Mycannashop
Probably you'll have heard about an article in Forbes,  with title "CBD can cause liver damage"...

Actually the article claims that CBD “could be damaging our livers in the same way as alcohol and other drugs." ... the evidense was taken by a study from researchers at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock.

Of course, they never mention that the drug that the researchers used was the EPIDIOLEX, wich is a prescription medicine that is used to treat seizures associated with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome or Dravet syndrome in patients 2 years of age and older.

Also the doses was extremely higher than the normal (20mg/kg)...
"Animals were gavaged with either 0, 246, 738, or 2460 mg/kg of CBD or with daily doses of 0, 61.5, 184.5, or 615 mg/kg for 10 days. A dose of 246 mg/kg was chosen as an initial dose as this is a MED analogous to those used in recent clinical trials (MED of 20 mg/kg CBD)

Subsequently, researchers used doses of 738 and 2460 mg/kg CBD as 3× and 10× doses, respectively. Finally they demonstrated that CBD, when delivered orally to mice in the form of a concentrated CBD-enriched Cannabis extract, has the potential to cause liver injury...

So, on the basis of such an inaccurate article, we thought about doing our own research on CBD and the potential benefits it may have to the liver-related diseases...

"New Studies Reveals That Cannabis Helps PTSD Patients"

Cannabis and PTSD. Mycannashop
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental disorder that can develop after a person is exposed to a traumatic event.

This debilitating condition causes chronic problems like nightmares, panic attacks, hypervigilance, detachment from others, overwhelming emotions, and self-destructive behavior.

Unfortunatelly these overwhelming symptoms can even lead to suicide.

The current method of treating PTSD is to medicate the symptoms, not to actually treat the patient. In fact, many of the medications prescribed do the opposite and suppress the brain’s natural healing functions.

Because of this, many PTSD patients are stuck in a cycle: take pills, feel sedated, stop taking pills, then feel alive until the massive hammer of symptoms comes back. This is why we see so many veterans taking their own lives – not to mention the number of first responders who are suffering and who rarely get discussed.

Many PTSD patients have been saying for years that cannabis helps with their PTSD.

Previous research has shown that cannabis has the potential to reduce anxiety, or even prevent heightened anxiety in threatening situations. But up to this point, no studies had investigated this response in adults dealing with trauma - such as those with PTSD.

Two new studies point to the way that cannabinoids may help treat PTSD. One shows how cannabis can reduce activity in the amygdala (part of the brain associated with fear responses to threats) andd the other suggests that the plant’s cannabinoids could play a role in extinguishing traumatic memories. Both effects could be therapeutic for those suffering from PTSD - according to those studies.

"The Antimicrobial Activities of Phytocannabinoids"

antimicrobial use of cannabinoid. Mycannashop
Novel antimicrobial drugs are urgently needed to counteract the increasing occurrence of bacterial resistance.

Extracts of Cannabis sativa have been used for the treatment of several diseases since ancient times.

It has been demonstrated that several cannabinoids show potent antimicrobial activity against primarily Gram-positive bacteria including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). As first in vivo efficacy has been demonstrated recently, it is time to discuss whether cannabinoids are promising antimicrobial drug candidates or overhyped intoxicants with benefits.

The worldwide spread of bacterial resistance against market antibiotics has been identified as one of the major threats to public health by scientists and healthcare authorities. Thus, new antibacterial strategies and antibacterial compounds are urgently needed to counteract the increasing occurrence of antibiotic-resistant and, especially, multidrug-resistant (MDR) pathogens, to keep the live-saving advantages toward bacterial pathogens.

In 2017, the World Health Organization (WHO) emphasized the crucial need for antimicrobial drug development against a group of 13 different genii, families, and specific species of pathogenic bacteria. The real problem is that the vast majority of these prioritized bacterial pathogens are drug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria.

However, antimicrobial resistances are also increasing in Gram-positive bacteria and, among the high priority pathogens, the Gram-positive pathogen Staphylococcus aureus is the leading cause of both healthcare and community-associated infections worldwide, and a major cause for morbidity as well as mortality.

"CBD Improves Blood Flow to Brain’s Hippocampus"

CBD and Blood Pressure
Cannabidiol (CBD) increases cerebral blood flow to areas of the brain associated with memory processing, specifically the hippocampus. The findings identify a potential mechanism for the use of CBD to treat disorders associated with altered memory processing, including Alzheimer’s disease, PTSD, and schizophrenia.

A single dose of cannabidiol (CBD) helped increase blood flow to the hippocampus, an important area of the brain associated with memory and emotion, finds a new study led by UCL researchers.

Researchers say the findings could be an important discovery for conditions which affect memory, such as Alzheimer’s disease and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and could help better target therapies.

In the study, published in the Journal of Psychopharmacology, researchers set out to investigate how CBD influences cerebral blood flow in different regions on the brain involved in memory processing.

Lead author, Dr Michael Bloomfield (UCL Psychiatry) said: “Cannabidiol is one of the main constituents of cannabis and is gaining interest for its therapeutic potential.

"Using CBD to Treat the Symptoms of Alzheimer’s & Other Forms of Dementia"

CBD in Alzheimer’s & Dementia. Mycannashop
Worldwide, 50 million people are living with Alzheimer's and other dementias.

Alzheimer’s disease is a degenerative brain disease and the most common form of dementia.

Dementia its an overall term that describes a group of symptoms.

Dementia is a general term for loss of memory, language, problem-solving and other thinking abilities that are severe enough to interfere with daily life. Alzheimer's is the most common cause of dementia.

The dementia-related conditions that can be helped by CBD include: Alzheimer’s disease, Vascular Dementia, Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), Parkinson’s disease, Frontotemporal dementia and Huntington’s disease.

According to researchers at California’s Salk Institute, their 2017 study has found evidence that cannabinoids such as CBD could help remove dementia from, and increase connections between, brain cells. Those results were validated by other laboratories.

There are three ways CBD can work to improve health outcomes for persons with dementia: by reducing inflammation, by reducing oxygen buildup, and by working as a brain stimulant and neuroprotectant. From a user’s perspective, CBD may reduce stress and anxiety in the individual with dementia as well as reduce the decline of memory and other brain functions.

"Safety and efficacy of cannabidiol in children and adults with treatment resistant Lennox-Gastaut syndrome or Dravet syndrome"

Since 2014, patients with severe treatment-resistant epilepsies (TREs) have been receiving add-on cannabidiol (CBD) in an ongoing, expanded access program (EAP), which closely reflects clinical practice.

Researchers conducted an interim analysis of long-term efficacy and tolerability in patients with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS) or Dravet syndrome (DS) who received CBD treatment through December 2016.

The Study...

Children and adults with LGS/DS taking stable doses of antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) at baseline were included from 25 EAP sites across the United States.

During the 4-week baseline period, parents/caregivers kept diaries of all countable seizure types. Patients received a pharmaceutical formulation of highly purified CBD in oral solution at 2-10 mg/kg/day, titrated until tolerability limit or a maximum dose of 25-50 mg/kg/day.

"CBD and Epilepsy"

Epilepsy is a common neurologic disorder, it is estimated that ∼50 million people are affected worldwide.

About one third of those patients are drug resistant, defined as failure to stop all seizures despite adequate trials of at least 2 appropriate medications.

CBD (cannabidiol) has been shown to be an effective treatment for epilepsy, particularly in reducing the frequency and severity of seizures in people with certain types of epilepsy.
In 2018, the FDA approved a CBD-based medication called Epidiolex for the treatment of two rare forms of childhood epilepsy, Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome. Clinical trials showed that Epidiolex significantly reduced the number of seizures in patients with these conditions.
CBD works by interacting with the body's endocannabinoid system, which plays a role in regulating various bodily functions, including mood, pain, and sleep. It is thought that CBD may help to reduce seizures by interacting with certain receptors in the brain and nervous system.

There has been an enormous interest in developing antiepileptic drugs with novel mechanisms of action. This review discusses the evidence supporting the anticonvulsant properties of cannabis in humans, focusing on cannabidiol.

"CBD could help people quit cannabis bad habit"

A benchmark clinical trial published on 28/07/2020 shows that cannabidiol (CBD) could be a safe and effective treatment for problematic cannabis use.

Results from the first-ever randomised clinical trial of CBD for cannabis use disorder suggests that prescribed doses of the non-intoxicating constituent part of the cannabis plant could help people kick the habit.

In the MRC-funded trial, published in the Lancet Psychiatry, researchers administered doses of CBD or placebo to 82 volunteers who were motivated to quit using cannabis but had previously failed to do so. They measured the effects of the drug on levels of cannabis use both during a four-week treatment period and up to six months follow-up.

As this was the first clinical trial to assess CBD for reducing cannabis use, they tested three different doses of CBD in an adaptive design to find out which doses might be most effective.

  • In the first stage of the trial, 48 volunteers received either placebo or CBD at doses of 200mg, 400mg or 800mg. The researchers found that the lowest dose of 200mg CBD was ineffective and so they dropped it from the trial.
  • In the second stage of the trial, the researchers recruited an additional 34 volunteers to receive either placebo, 400mg or 800mg CBD. At the end of the trial, they found consistent evidence that CBD at 400mg or 800mg was more effective than placebo at reducing cannabis use.

"Cannabis and Migrains"

Studies on Cannabis and Migrains, Mycannashop
A migraine is a primary headache disorder characterized by recurrent headaches that are moderate to severe.
Typically, the headaches affect one half of the head, are pulsating in nature, and last from a few hours to 3 days.
Associated symptoms may include nausea, vomiting & sensitivity to light, sound or smell.

A surprising fact is that cannabis and tinctures have been used to treat headaches and migraines for hundreds and possibly even thousands of years.
Some of the prevailing theories about how cannabis can help with migraines and headaches have to do with its potent and proven properties as an analgesic (pain reliever), and antiemetic (preventing nausea and vomiting), and due to its powerful anti-inflammatory effects.
The good news is that studies centering around the effects on headaches and migraines have shown a lot of promise and it may be just the solution you’ve been searching for.

"CBD and Schizophrenia Safety and Effectiveness"

Schizophrenia is a mental illness characterized by continuous or relapsing episodes of psychosis.

Major symptoms include hallucinations, delusions and disorganized thinking. Other symptoms include social withdrawal, decreased emotional expression, and lack of motivation.

Cannabis and mental health are strongly linked.Cannabis helps support health across various facets of mind, brain and body. But there is no end to the wellness advantages it can offer.Cannabis can assist with mental health, help clear your mind, and alleviate depression. It will help you concentrate, and open up a whole fresh realm of energy and liveliness.

The two most abundant cannabinoids in Cannabis are THC and CBD. Different forms of cannabis vary in the relative proportions of THC and CBD, and the risk of psychotic symptoms and impaired cognitive functioning following cannabis use is lower with cannabis preparations that have a relatively high CBD content.

The aim of the present study was to explore the safety and effectiveness of CBD as an adjunctive treatment in schizophrenia. Researchers examined the effects of CBD on positive and negative psychotic symptoms, cognitive performance, level of functioning, and the treating psychiatrist’s overall clinical impression.

"EIHA approve plan for CBD & THC studies"

The main hemp industry body in Europe has received a green light from its members to move forward with “unprecedented” studies on cannabidiol and THC as part of a joint novel food authorization application.

An “overwhelming majority” of European Industrial Hemp Association members voted on Monday in favor of “the principles of the special contribution structure” for the group’s joint application for novel food authorization.

EIHA members agreed last year to submit a joint novel foods application with “a range of CBD extracts” to UK and EU authorities, and the association revealed the anticipated scope and costs associated with the joint application last month.

The anticipated cost of the joint application project is going up. EIHA projected that around €3.5 million ($3.9 million) will be invested over the next two to three years in “unprecedented studies” on the toxicology of CBD and THC.

The EIHA previously estimated the cost for the lab analysis of CBD and THC at €1.8 million ($2 million).

"CBD Oil for Peripheral Neuropathy"

CBD Oil for Peripheral Neuropathy mycannashop
Neuropathy can affect your overall wellbeing and quality of life. It involves an intense pain that is challenging to manage because it affects the nerves of the peripheral nervous system.
Patients suffering from neuropathy often use opioids pain medications. Although these medications can be useful in reducing pain, they pose the risk of overdose, addiction, and abuse.
Due to this, most people look for alternative treatments.
CBD is becoming a preferred alternative remedy for patients with neuropathy. This is because its the non-psychoactive component of marijuana that has numerous health benefits. CBD doesn’t produce any side effects and is an appropriate option for patients.
What is Peripheral Neuropathy?
Understanding what Peripheral neuropathy means is important to appreciating the possible remedy that CBD oil brings to the victims. It is a medical disorder that occurs when there is damage to the nerves that link the other body parts such as skin and muscles to the spinal cord and the brain. Damage to these nerves interferes with communication between other parts of the body and the brain. Besides, it reduces sensation in the legs and arms, affects movement and causes pain.
However, the dose matters when it comes to neuropathic pain, and it is crucial to start with small doses and examine their impact on your body before increasing the quantity. Once you get a preferred dosage, stick to it.

"Cannabis and Cannabinoids. Integrative, alternative, and complementary therapies"

cannabinoids and cancer
Cannabis, also known as marijuana, is a plant grown in many parts of the world. It makes a resin (thick substance) that contains compounds called cannabinoids.

Cannabis and cannabinoids have been studied for relief of pain, nausea and vomiting, anxiety, and loss of appetite caused by cancer or the side effects of cancer therapies.

Cancer patients considering complementary and alternative therapies should discuss this decision with their doctor, nurse, or pharmacist as they would any type of treatment. Some complementary and alternative therapies may affect their standard treatment or may be harmful when used with conventional treatment.

The National Cancer Institute and the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) are sponsoring a number of clinical trials (research studies) at medical centers to test CAM therapies for use in cancer.

What are cannabinoids?

Cannabinoids, also known as phytocannabinoids, are chemicals in Cannabis that cause drug-like effects in the body, including the central nervous system and the immune system. The main psychoactive cannabinoid in Cannabis is delta-9-THC.
Another active cannabinoid is cannabidiol (CBD), which may relieve pain and lower inflammation without causing the high of delta-9-THC.Cannabinoids may help treat the side effects of cancer and cancer treatment.

"THE 1947 MEDICAL CANNABIS STUDY WICH COVERUP & THE ROLE OF SALT LAKE CITY TELEGRAM 1949"

THE 1947 MEDICAL CANNABIS STUDY COVERUP Mycannashop
This section of the Antique Cannabis Book, was meant primarily as a tool for active news media reporters who needed a quick source of information on the subject of Governmental Censorship as it relates to Medical Cannabis.

This study for epilepsy from 1947, was openly but never actually published under the threat of censorship...

However, a quick look beneath the surface shows a different story. One that reveals is wheels within wheels, circles within circles and all spinning around . . . Let’s just say that this study, disarearded to the dark as  so many other Medical Cannabis studies.
The author is convinced that had Anslinger (or anyone at the D.E.A.) known about the study BEFORE IT WAS PUBLISHED , it most assuredly would have been CENSORED.  Either that or (doing what the Narc’s do now), killed it in its cradle by simply denying the researchers the needed licenses and permits.
This one however, seems to have slipped though the cracks. Here let us go over the facts (those we’ve been able to locate), and we let the reader to decide.

Can Cannabis Help With Anorexia?" Mycannashop
Cannabinoids gaining great interest, with great focus for the treatment of eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia and cachexia.

And it's not secret that anorexia has proven to be notoriously difficult to treat with traditional medications...

Cannabinoids such as CBD have been shown to be compounds with multi-modal action mechanisms, with clear therapeutic potential in different medical areas and some important clues comes from 5 studies about the role of the endocannabinoid system in anorexia.

There are several clinical studies in recent years show that cannabis is an effective treatment to help people with anorexia, to gain weight again.

But while gaining weight is often the main target of success in these studies, digging into the results shows an even more important pattern: How cannabis may help relieve some of the stress and anxiety associated with psychological and emotional trauma, making it a potentially unique treatment in the field of mainstream medicine.

"Why Aging Immune Systems Are More Vulnerable to Virus & How Can You Boost Your Immunity Through Foods"?

Aging Immune Systems and Immunity
Having a strong immunity is important in the fight against coronavirus and general all the virus.
A stronger immune system allows the body to fight diseases and viruses.

While some people can be born with a good immunity, some others must build on it.
But as we age, our immune system weakens and our capability to respond to infections gets slower. As a result maintaining a balance and following these guidelines helps create a stronger body that can sustain in the long run.
Dr. Sean X. Leng and his laboratory team at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, study the biology of healthy aging with a focus on chronic inflammation in late-life decline. The lab also studies “immunosenescence” the decline in immune function as we age. Leng’s team is interested in the relationship between immunosenescence and the basic biological and physiological changes related to aging and frailty in the human immune system.

"Omega Fatty Acids Can Fight Inflammation via Cannabinoids"

Omega Fatty Acids Inflammation via Cannabinoids Mycannashop
Cannabinoids are found in cannabis plant and also are produced naturally from our body (Endocannabinoids) from the omega fatty acids (-3, -6, -9).

We know that omega-3 acids are useful to the ECS
for two reasons.
A, it helps the cannabinoid receptors to be more active.
B, those omega-3s and phospholipids are used as backbone structures to produce cannabinoids in the body.

We also know that Omegas they have anti-inflammatory benefits but a study reveals the cascade of chemical reactions that converts omega-3 fatty acids into endocannabinoids...

"Cannabis oil or foods such as meat, eggs, fish and nuts contain omega-3,-6,-9 fatty acids, which the body converts into endocannabinoids: said Aditi Das, a University of Illinois professor of comparative biosciences and biochemistry, who led the study.

"Cannabinoids in Cannabis plant and endocannabinoids produced in the body can support the body's immune system and therefore are attractive targets for the development of anti-inflammatory therapeutics" she said.

"First Evidence of Immune Response Targeting Brain Cells in Autism"

Cannabis & Autism. Mycannashop
What would you think if someone told you that if you boosted your immune system you could even prevent Autism Disorders???

Autism is a developmental disorder characterized by difficulties with social interaction, communication, and by restricted and repetitive behavior.

Is associated with a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Risk factors during pregnancy include certain infections, such as rubella, toxins including valproic acid, alcohol, cocainepesticideslead, and air pollutionfetal growth restriction, and autoimmune diseases.

Back in 2012 the first step was done in a mouse model study that tied the autism-related behaviors with immune changes. Several large epidemiological studies have found a correlation between viral infection during the first trimester of a mother's pregnancy and a higher risk for autism spectrum disorder in her child.

But this time researchers examine hummans brains and found that autism spectrum disorder could be an autoimmune disease.
"We haven't proved causality, but this is one clue in support of the idea that Autism might be an Autoimmune Disorder"...

Investigators typically aim potential treatments at specific pathologies in brain diseases, such as the tangles and plaques that characterize Alzheimer’s disease and the Lewy bodies seen in Parkinson’s. Researchers states that: "Until now, we didn't had a promising target like that in autism"

"Charlotte Figi, the girl who inspired the CBD movement"

Charlotte Figi began taking oil from the marijuana plant, "Hippie’s Disappointment," which contained low THC and later named "Charlotte's" thanks to Charlotte.

Charlotte Figi was the inspiration for "Charlotte’s Web" products by Stanley Brothers.

Unfortunately, Charlotte has passed away on April 7, 2020,from COVID 19 at the age of 13.According to reports, she had tested positive  and went to the hospital.

She was discharged from the hospital on Sunday, after her condition seemed to improve. She suffered a seizure Tuesday morning resulting in respiratory failure and cardiac arrest, however, and she was taken back to the hospital, where she was treated “as a likely COVID-19 case.” Figi said seizures commonly occur along with illnesses in children like Charlotte with Dravet syndrome.

A family friend posted on Facebook:
“Charlotte is no longer suffering. She is seizure-free forever.” The family has requested privacy.

Stanley brothers wrote:
"What began as her story, became the shared story of hundreds of thousands, and the inspiration of many millions more in the journey of their betterment. Charlotte was and will be, the heartbeat of our passion, and the conviction that the dignity and health of a human being is their right.”

Her story changed the way the public perceives marijuana and while the use of medical marijuana was illegal in many states and countries, news of Figi’s success spread and families with Dravet Syndrom diagnoses started moving to Colorado Springs. This movement was so large, that families started to had a name for themselves: "Marijuana Refugees".

"CBD Oil and Pregnancy: Safety & Efficacy For Maternity"

CBD Oil and Pregnancy Mycannashop
Pregnancy can be both a beautiful and uncomfortable experience.

Many expecting mothers experience cramping, insomnia, anxiety, morning sickness, and many more symptoms throughout the course of their pregnancy.
One of the newer and more exciting health supplements to hit the market recently that’s been shown to support many of these symptoms is CBD Oil.

This oil is made from one of the active compounds in the hemp plant known as cannabidiol (CBD).
In a previοus article we talk about endocannabinoids and that their role is so crucial that they effect all the major stages of our lives from conception, embryo implantation, birth to the early days of our lives, so let's see what is CBD oil, how do you take it, and what effects can it have during your pregnancy?

What is CBD Oil and Is It Safe During Pregnancy?

CBD (cannabidiol) is one of many different compounds found in the cannabis plant. The chemical structure of CBD is unique in that it closely resembles some of the hormones produced by our body known as the endocannabinoids.
The similarities in the structure of CBD to these hormones allows CBD to interact with the endocannabinoid system — made up of a series of receptors around the human body. This system has many uses but the most important is its role in regulating homeostasis (balance).
This ability to interact with regulatory systems like the endocannabinoid system is what gives CBD so many health benefits. Instead of working through just one organ, it’s able to interact with organs all around the body.
