"Industrial Hemp,Agronomy and Ultilization"

There are increased interests in growing grain and fiber hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) as well as in large-scale hemp products. Cannabis has been grown/ utilized for thousands of years as a fiber, grain, and medicinal plant.

However, the strict control of cannabis cultivation to combat illegal use, the spread of new yarns and oilseeds, and the advent of cheap synthetic fibers caused a decreased/eliminated hemp production

Hemp has a long history of being used for fiber, grain, and medicinal purposes, but its cultivation has been strictly controlled due to concerns about illegal drug use, competition from synthetic fibers, and bans in many countries.

However, with the legalization of hemp in the USA through the 2014 and 2018 Farm Bill, research programs have been launched by universities to explore its potential. Hemp has the advantage of being a versatile crop that can be used for multiple purposes, creating opportunities for the market to value hemp products.

This paper, published on MDPI Open Access Jurnals, highlights that hemp has the potential to be a sustainable and environmentally friendly crop, with its ability to absorb heavy metals, sequester carbon, and suppress weeds without the use of pesticides. The paper aims to examine the historical and recent literature on hemp agronomy and utilization, focusing on industrial hemp for grain and fiber production.

"Grant funds to researchers who are studying cannabis treatment for cancer"

The purpose of this Notice of Special Interest (NOSI) is to promote research in understanding the mechanisms by which cannabis and cannabinoids affect cancer biology, cancer interception, cancer treatment and resistance, and management of cancer symptoms.

The "National Institutes of Health" (NIH) is prepping to grant funds to researchers who are studying cannabis treatment for cancer and will soon be available to researchers who are working to treat cannabis.

Within the US, many states have permitted the use of cannabis products, but state policies vary widely regarding the types of products allowed and for what purpose they may be used. Concurrently, the delivery methods of cannabis have diversified and now include edibles, oils, tinctures, topicals and inhaled forms.

Cancer patients use cannabis and cannabinoids to manage symptoms of cancer and cancer treatment including anorexia, nausea, and pain. Recent survey evidence suggests that a quarter of cancer patients have used cannabis for symptom management. Despite the increase in cannabis and cannabinoid use, research about their health effects, including potential harms and benefits, remain limited.

"HEMP STEEL REBARS... Stronger Than Steel?"

Researchers from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, confirm that hemp rebar could be a suitable alternative to steel in cement construction.
Dan Walczyk, director of the manufacturing innovation center and Alex Tsamis, associate director of the Architecture Science & Ecology Center, say they have produced an alternative to steel in concrete buildings and various infrastructure projects.

Both scientists agree that hemp-based natural fiber-reinforced thermoplastic rebar has the potential to displace steel as the most preferred reinforcing technology in a few years. These hemp rebars are partially guaranteed to eliminate corrosion challenges, and they are more durable than steel bars.

Rebar is a crucial component in the frameworks of cement buildings. They help construct perfectly standing and durable skeletal frameworks for convention infrastructure projects. On its own, concrete lacks tensile strength, and this is the primary reason why rebars are used—to provide tensile strength.

The Manufacturing Potential of Hemp

About 150 years ago, before the onset of cannabis prohibition and the criminalization of offenders, hemp was used to produce over 75% of the goods consumed by Americans. The manufacturing of hemp-derived goods was scrapped when the government banned the cultivation and usage of the drug based on the threat of abuse. Currently, hemp is at the forefront of manufacturing discussions due to its undeniable potential to serve humans and the global ecosystem.

"SAFE & LEGAL ACCESS TO MEDICAL CANNABIS AND CANNABIDIOL (CBD)"

While not everyone with epilepsy should or would consider medical cannabis or cannabidiol (CBD) as a treatment option, some people living with uncontrolled seizures have reported beneficial effects and reduced seizure activity when using medical cannabis, especially strains rich in CBD. Further research is needed on the effects of medical cannabis on epilepsy, but when recommended by a treating physician, medical cannabis may be the best alternative for some individuals living with drug-resistant epilepsy and uncontrolled seizures.

Access to medical cannabis will support increased research efforts and allow individuals who have failed to gain seizure control an option for treatment.

"Neuroprotective Effects Of Cannabis" by Sensi Seed

Following on from our recent article on the relationship between cannabis use and stroke, we now investigate the role of cannabinoids in mitigating brain damage caused by traumatic brain injury and ischemic stroke. There is mounting evidence to suggest that their various properties have great therapeutic potential.

-Antioxidative & anti-inflammatory properties

In recent years the evidence for the antioxidative and anti-inflammatory properties of various cannabinoids has become well-established, and our understanding of the role they play in modulating neurotransmission too has grown. Thus, serious consideration is now being given to their potential as neuroprotective agents. Cannabinoids have been shown to prevent neuronal death in acute neuronal injury, including Ischemic Stroke (IS) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), as well as provide symptomatic relief in Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Huntington’s disease, and other chronic neurodegenerative diseases.

"The Begining of Western Medicine"

The Begining of Western Medicine Mycannashop
Our little story begins from the Middle Ages and with two powerful and very profitable products... Opium & Oil.

In 1803 Friedrich Sertuerner  discovers an active ingredient in opium which if you dissolved in acid and then neutralizing it with ammonia result of this is... Morphine.

Morphine was not only the first alkaloid to be extracted from opium, but the first ever alkaloid to be isolated from plant.

In 1827 E. Merck & Company of Darmstadt, begins the commercial manufacturing of morphine for healing purposes.  It would become a dominant manufacturer of morphine, codeine and cocaine.

When we think of Bayer we think of aspirin, definitly not heroin.... but in 1895 Bayer Company of Elberfeld, finds that diluting morphine with acetyls produces a drug without the common morphine side effects and the name for this new compound... Heroin

And where you find acetyls to produce heroin?  Where did the acetyls come from?  Well, just like today they come from petrochemicals, and sudenly all this led us to a name.... "John D. Rockefeller" the oil baron...

"Historic vote at the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs"

The United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) on Wednesday,Dec. 2. accepted a World Health Organization (WHO) recommendation to remove cannabis and cannabis resin from Schedule IV of the 1961 Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs.

The  approval of Recommendation 5.1 had a slim majority in favor with 27 votes for, one abstention and 25 votes against.

The CND – the main drug policymaking body within the United Nations – turned down all five remaining recommendations.

The passage of Recommendation 5.1 carries broad symbolic significance for medical cannabis, as it could help boost medical cannabis legalization efforts around the globe now that the CND tacitly acknowledges the medical utility of the drug.

“The medical cannabis wave has accelerated in recent years already, but this will give it another boost,” Martin Jelsma, drugs and democracy program director at the Netherlands-based Transnational Institute, told Marijuana Business Daily.

“And for those countries that basically mirror the U.N. scheduling in their domestic legislation, it may lead to national descheduling and remove obstacles to use cannabis for medical and research purposes.”

"CBD could help people quit cannabis bad habit"

A benchmark clinical trial published on 28/07/2020 shows that cannabidiol (CBD) could be a safe and effective treatment for problematic cannabis use.

Results from the first-ever randomised clinical trial of CBD for cannabis use disorder suggests that prescribed doses of the non-intoxicating constituent part of the cannabis plant could help people kick the habit.

In the MRC-funded trial, published in the Lancet Psychiatry, researchers administered doses of CBD or placebo to 82 volunteers who were motivated to quit using cannabis but had previously failed to do so. They measured the effects of the drug on levels of cannabis use both during a four-week treatment period and up to six months follow-up.

As this was the first clinical trial to assess CBD for reducing cannabis use, they tested three different doses of CBD in an adaptive design to find out which doses might be most effective.

  • In the first stage of the trial, 48 volunteers received either placebo or CBD at doses of 200mg, 400mg or 800mg. The researchers found that the lowest dose of 200mg CBD was ineffective and so they dropped it from the trial.
  • In the second stage of the trial, the researchers recruited an additional 34 volunteers to receive either placebo, 400mg or 800mg CBD. At the end of the trial, they found consistent evidence that CBD at 400mg or 800mg was more effective than placebo at reducing cannabis use.

"CBD Vs COVID-19"

studies on CBD and Covid-19. Mycannashop
In a previeus article we had speak about cannabis terpens against Covid-19. Now we examine the first study of that article to understand better, not only, the way CBD can help us with viruses but how CBD act with our bodies for a better health.Lets say that this is another litle pice of the puzzle...

Researchers at the University of Lethbridge say while clinical trials still need to be done, data they’ve been collecting over the past four years shows promise that some cannabis extracts may help in the prevention and treatment of COVID-19.

The researchers of this study, Olga and Igor Kovalchuk have been working with cannabis since 2015, using varieties from around the world to create new hybrids and develop extracts that demonstrate certain therapeutic properties.

"When COVID-19 started, Olga had the idea to revisit our data, and see if we can utilize it for COVID.We were totally stunned at first, and then we were really happy," says Olga.
"It was like a joker card, you know, coronavirus. It just mixes up everybody’s plans," says Olga.

"EIHA approve plan for CBD & THC studies"

The main hemp industry body in Europe has received a green light from its members to move forward with “unprecedented” studies on cannabidiol and THC as part of a joint novel food authorization application.

An “overwhelming majority” of European Industrial Hemp Association members voted on Monday in favor of “the principles of the special contribution structure” for the group’s joint application for novel food authorization.

EIHA members agreed last year to submit a joint novel foods application with “a range of CBD extracts” to UK and EU authorities, and the association revealed the anticipated scope and costs associated with the joint application last month.

The anticipated cost of the joint application project is going up. EIHA projected that around €3.5 million ($3.9 million) will be invested over the next two to three years in “unprecedented studies” on the toxicology of CBD and THC.

The EIHA previously estimated the cost for the lab analysis of CBD and THC at €1.8 million ($2 million).

"THE 1947 MEDICAL CANNABIS STUDY WICH COVERUP & THE ROLE OF SALT LAKE CITY TELEGRAM 1949"

THE 1947 MEDICAL CANNABIS STUDY COVERUP Mycannashop
This section of the Antique Cannabis Book, was meant primarily as a tool for active news media reporters who needed a quick source of information on the subject of Governmental Censorship as it relates to Medical Cannabis.

This study for epilepsy from 1947, was openly but never actually published under the threat of censorship...

However, a quick look beneath the surface shows a different story. One that reveals is wheels within wheels, circles within circles and all spinning around . . . Let’s just say that this study, disarearded to the dark as  so many other Medical Cannabis studies.
The author is convinced that had Anslinger (or anyone at the D.E.A.) known about the study BEFORE IT WAS PUBLISHED , it most assuredly would have been CENSORED.  Either that or (doing what the Narc’s do now), killed it in its cradle by simply denying the researchers the needed licenses and permits.
This one however, seems to have slipped though the cracks. Here let us go over the facts (those we’ve been able to locate), and we let the reader to decide.

"Could cannabis terpene formulation treat COVID-19"?

After the Canadian University of Lethbridge, which announced a few days ago, the promising first results of its research on the possible contribution of the plant and cannabinoid derivatives in the treatment of the new virus, the Israeli company CannaSoul also announced that it is proceeding with relevant studies.

So lets see what those two studies report about Cannabis & Covid-19.

-In the first study, according to the calgary.ctvnews, researchers presented a series of data according to which components of the cannabis plant effectively contribute to inhibiting the invasion of Covid19 in the human body.

The researchers point out that further clinical studies will be needed to finalize the results of their research, but they do not hide their optimism. According to their findings, based on preliminary data and pending further investigation, high-cannabidiol-CBD cannabis anti-inflammatory extracts can regulate the action of receptors in organs such as the mouth and lungs.

"Omega Fatty Acids Can Fight Inflammation via Cannabinoids"

Omega Fatty Acids Inflammation via Cannabinoids Mycannashop
Cannabinoids are found in cannabis plant and also are produced naturally from our body (Endocannabinoids) from the omega fatty acids (-3, -6, -9).

We know that omega-3 acids are useful to the ECS
for two reasons.
A, it helps the cannabinoid receptors to be more active.
B, those omega-3s and phospholipids are used as backbone structures to produce cannabinoids in the body.

We also know that Omegas they have anti-inflammatory benefits but a study reveals the cascade of chemical reactions that converts omega-3 fatty acids into endocannabinoids...

"Cannabis oil or foods such as meat, eggs, fish and nuts contain omega-3,-6,-9 fatty acids, which the body converts into endocannabinoids: said Aditi Das, a University of Illinois professor of comparative biosciences and biochemistry, who led the study.

"Cannabinoids in Cannabis plant and endocannabinoids produced in the body can support the body's immune system and therefore are attractive targets for the development of anti-inflammatory therapeutics" she said.

"Charlotte Figi, the girl who inspired the CBD movement"

Charlotte Figi began taking oil from the marijuana plant, "Hippie’s Disappointment," which contained low THC and later named "Charlotte's" thanks to Charlotte.

Charlotte Figi was the inspiration for "Charlotte’s Web" products by Stanley Brothers.

Unfortunately, Charlotte has passed away on April 7, 2020,from COVID 19 at the age of 13.According to reports, she had tested positive  and went to the hospital.

She was discharged from the hospital on Sunday, after her condition seemed to improve. She suffered a seizure Tuesday morning resulting in respiratory failure and cardiac arrest, however, and she was taken back to the hospital, where she was treated “as a likely COVID-19 case.” Figi said seizures commonly occur along with illnesses in children like Charlotte with Dravet syndrome.

A family friend posted on Facebook:
“Charlotte is no longer suffering. She is seizure-free forever.” The family has requested privacy.

Stanley brothers wrote:
"What began as her story, became the shared story of hundreds of thousands, and the inspiration of many millions more in the journey of their betterment. Charlotte was and will be, the heartbeat of our passion, and the conviction that the dignity and health of a human being is their right.”

Her story changed the way the public perceives marijuana and while the use of medical marijuana was illegal in many states and countries, news of Figi’s success spread and families with Dravet Syndrom diagnoses started moving to Colorado Springs. This movement was so large, that families started to had a name for themselves: "Marijuana Refugees".

"Should You Use Cannabis to Prevent Illnesses"???

Did you know that we could target in the ECS to prevent illness and maintain better health?
Our bodies consist of many unique physiologic systems whose sole purpose is to maintain an internal balance called homeostasis.

We know the pancreas releases insulin to balance glucose levels between the bloodstream and cells. The thyroid gland releases thyroid hormone, which regulates vital bodily functions related to metabolism, body temperature and much more. Acctually our bodies are working constantly to stay balanced in response to our external environment.

The "Endocannabinoid System" (ECS)...

In the quest to understand how THC causes its intoxicating effects, scientists discovered that we have yet another regulatory physiologic system, called "Endocannabinoid System" (ECS) whose role is to maintain bodily homeostasis & biological harmony. Acctualy the ECS  is the most widespread receptor system in the human body and has been described as being protective and necessary for life.

"End Our Pain” campaign... 18 mothers plan to go on hunger strike for sons cannabis treatment"

Unbelievably, a Scottish mother and 17 other mothers in similar situations plan to go on a hunger strike in an effort to pressure the government into providing funding for the medicine their children need!

Murray Gray has a rare form of epilepsy called Doose syndrome that requires a treatment of Bedrolite and Bedrocan.

{Bedrolite is the brand name for the cultivar Cannabis sativa L. ‘Rensina’, is a so-called CBD-only product, with less than 1% THC and 9% CBD and has become the preferred choice of a number of patients with severe, intractable (untreatable) forms of epilepsy.
Bedrocan is the brand name for the cultivarCannabis sativa L. ‘Afina’ wich is the first cultivar developed and it features 22% THC, with a CBD-level below 1%. ... Guess what...both prodused by Bedrocan}

Those drugs was prescribed by a Dutch doctor in March but at a cost of £1,200 a month, his mother, Karen Gray has had to rely on fund raising efforts such as a recent sponsored walk across the Forth Road Bridge and an upcoming Race Night planned for November

Raphael Mechoulam on Medical Cannabis “Why Did We Have to Wait 35 Years?”

Raphael Mechoulam Mycannashop
Decades before legislators in Colorado or California even began to consider medical marijuana, Raphael Mechoulam was investigating the biochemistry and pharmacology of cannabis-derived compounds, and urging the global medical community to shed their preconceptions about this plant, and to take it seriously as a source of safe and effective medicines.

In the early 1960sRaphael Melcoulam & his team became the first who isolate, characterize, and synthesize THC,one of the main psychoactive compounds produced by cannabis.

His subsequent work included the discovery of endogenously produced cannabinoids and the characterization of the endocannabinoid receptor system within the human central nervous system and peripheral tissues.

Dr. Mechoulam is currently a professor of medicinal chemistry and natural products at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His total synthesis of THC, as well as other cannabinoids such as cannabidiol (CBD), is the cornerstone of the burgeoning medical-cannabis industry. Furthermore, his major contributions in the field of organic chemistry and the interaction of human and plant biology have led to the discovery of cannabinoid receptors in the human brain and the endocannabinoid system in the human body.
Dr. Mechoulam was kind enough to give his time for an exclusive interview with Holistic Primary Care’s cannabis correspondent, Laura Lagano.

Lagano, an integrative clinical nutritionist and co-founder of the Holistic Cannabis Academy, got Mechoulam to share his views on the current state of medical cannabis research and the appropriate clinical applications of cannabis-derived compounds.

Here are excerpts from their conversation:

"GREECE APPROVES 26 MARIJUANA GROW OPS FOR MEDICAL PRODUCTION"

Greece’s staggering economic collapse made international headlines. But now, The National Herald reports a new development in Greece’s medical marijuana laws brings some more positive news to the financially ailing country.

As the government finally begins digging its way out of its over $360 billion USD debt, one thing they hope will help achieve that goal is medical marijuana.

Like many politicians in Canada and the U.S., Greece sees marijuana as a revenue stream that could really bolster their economy.

Although marijuana is only legal in Greece for medical use, recent changes will finally help kick the industry into gear.

 Applications and Changes

Greece is not wasting a second getting their medical cannabis industry up and running. At this point, the country received 72 applications. Out of the total, 26 were approved, four rejected and the rest are pending.

In order to begin growing, businesses need three separate licenses. So far, none of the approved aspiring growers received all three. Nonetheless, the current government is very progressive on marijuana reform and has pledged to get through the process as quickly as possible.

When Greece legalized medical marijuana in 2017, they imposed a ban on cultivation. However, they repealed that ban in March of 2018.

Recreational marijuana is still illegal, but its use is widespread and “largely ignored.”

"Study From Yale Explains Why Does Cannabis Stimulate Your Appetite"

Cannabis and Appetite
Have you ever think, why do some cannabis consumers experience a heightened sense of appetite after the using of Cannabis???

Don't worry if you don't because a study from 'Yale School of Medicine'  has come up with a scientific answer exactly for this question...

The study was funded also by the National Institutes of Health, the American Diabetes Association, The Klarmann Family Foundation, the Helmholtz Society (ICEMED) and the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft SFB.

The study...

The “munchies,” or that uncontrollable urge to eat after using marijuana, appear to be driven by neurons in the brain that are normally involved in suppressing appetite, according to the study.
Lead author Tamas Horvath and his colleagues set out to monitor the brain circuitry that promotes eating by selectively manipulating the cellular pathway that mediates marijuana’s action on the brain, using transgenic mice.
“By observing how the appetite center of the brain responds to marijuana, we were able to see what drives the hunger brought about by cannabis and how that same mechanism that normally turns off feeding becomes a driver of eating,” said Horvath.

Woman killed by 'THC overdose' in US, coroner claims...???

According to an article on Independent.co.uk, a US coroner has stood by his conclusion that a woman died of an overdose of THC...
So lets see what exactly says the article... Is this true or some people still hunting witches...????

In what would ostensibly be the first confirmed case in the country, coroner Dr Christy Montegut, of St John the Baptist Parish in Louisiana, said an unnamed 39-year-old woman died in February after vaping THC oil.
“It looked like it was all THC because her autopsy showed no physical disease or afflictions that were the cause of death. There was nothing else identified in the toxicology — no other drugs, no alcohol. There was nothing else,” Dr Montegut told the New Orleans Advocate newspaper last month.
