"Can CBD Help You With Hangovers"?

Family gatherings, company work parties, and holiday celebrations with friends can lead to drinking more than you typically might…which can make you feel like death the following day... and if you don’t normally drink, even 2-3 drinks can make you feel like terrible the next day.
Let’s not forget that alcohol is basically poison. Not to knock a fun night of drinking or getting your drink on during the holidays, but alcohol consumption can do some serious damage to the brain and body…especially if you’re a heavy drinker.

What Causes Hangovers?

Alcohol is literally poisonous to the human body. It's your liver's job to filter that poison out of your bloodstream. When your liver is working overtime to filter toxins it can cause your blood sugar to drop to dangerously low levels making you feel sick and tired all over. On top of that, alcohol causes dehydration resulting in low electrolytes. Dehydration can cause severe headaches.

Can CBD Help You With Hangovers?

A study done at the University of Kentucky attempted to determine if treatment with CBD could prevent or repair the brain and liver damage done by alcohol. The scientists injected rats with enough alcohol to cause life-threatening seizures due to severe neurodegeneration - the technical term for killing brain cells. During the test, researchers administered CBD transdermally. They found that CBD treatment reduced damage to the liver and reduced neurodegeneration by almost 50%.

It doesn't just stop there. Alcohol overindulgence can also cause free radicals - molecules that can damage cells and DNA and cause cancer. CBD is known to have antioxidant effects which can reduce damage done by free radicals.

Studies, published in PubMed.gov show that it can reduce the frequency of migraine headaches and neuropathic pain. It’s also a well-known anti-inflammatory, which could have a positive effect on the aches and pains.

Conclusion:

So as you can understand with all these combined benefits, CBD oil could be more than just a way to treat the symptoms of alcohol poisoning. It could even be a real lifesaver.
